"Within a month I expect the road between Varvara and Velingrad to be repaired and the traffic on it - restored." This is what interim mayor Atanas Vodev said at a special press conference in connection with the disaster situation. Within two weeks, the section is expected to be run one-way, and after two more - in both directions. The road is a priority and that is why the Roads Executive Agency is doing everything possible for its recent operation. The Executive Director of the Roads Agency Velichko Zhelev has informed the municipal management that sufficient funds have been provided for the construction works, which began in the middle of last week. The crisis headquarters in the municipality expressed official gratitude for the cooperation of the People's Representative Lydia Shuleva and the Roads Agency.
Not so optimistic are the things with access to Velingrad through Belovo and Yundola, where the pavement is heavily destroyed in many places and will hardly be able to be restored soon. Repairs continue on the Velingrad-Sarnica road. The bridge in the Kemera area is being restored, with the section between it and Ablanitsa expected to be launched by the end of the week. Great are the destructions along the Kemera-Ablanitsa-Cvetino road, as well as along between Magerovo-St. Petka-Rohlevo, where explosive activities are also carried out in order to restore and strengthen the pavement. This task has been undertaken by engineering troops from Stara Zagora, who will stay and help until the end of October. The most serious problems are caused by the destroyed bridge structures, as well as the landslides activated as a result of the downpour.
