According to a pilot project of the Ministry of Agriculture dated March 1, 2006. The wood harvested by the state forestry and game breeding stations on the territory of Regional Forest Management - Pazardzhik will be sold only through an open tender.
For 30% of the total quantity, tenders will initially be made only for companies that have workshops on the territory of the respective farms. Such auctions will be held in Pazardzhik for the nearby settlements, Velingrad and Batak. However, the workshop regime is being tightened: the existing possibility for one workshop to have several companies registered and all of them to participate in the tenders is eliminated. From now on, only one company will be allowed to participate in one workshop.
The first tender after the pilot project was launched took place on 10 March in Velingrad. And confirmed fears that this system will not prevent scandals and concerns about agreements and protege on the political and economic line of certain companies in the industry. According to the head of RUG - Pazardzhik, Mehmed Veliat, the new system endangers small wood processing companies, which will be difficult to achieve success in overt auctions.
