PC "Chepinets" returned with 5 medals - 1 silver and 4 bronze, from the State Personal Swimming Team Championship for Men and Women, which was held from 1 to 4 July at the Red Flag Complex in the capital. Over 150 competitors of 22 swimming clubs from all over the country started in the race, which proved to be a useful check before the Olympics in Athens.
Some of the best swimmers of the Velingrad club could not take part in the championship, because of illnesses or because of preparation related to candidate-student exams. This prevented Kiril Karadzhov, Petar Demirev, Ivan Batsanov and Monika Trifonova from leaving for Sofia. However, the six contestants of PK "Chepinets", who participated in the championship, managed to perform in the best way and win 5 medals. Polina Mihaylova has finished second in the 200 m world class and has won a bronze medal in the 100 m in the same discipline. Katya Sankeva has become third in the 100 m breaststroke, and Dimitrina Papazova has finished fourth in the 50 m backstroke. In the finals among the eight strongest participated Vanya Padinkova in st.style, as did Tsvetanka Borikova and Boris Dodnikov on breaststroke.
The female four in the composition: K. Sankeva, D. Papazova, V. Padinkova and P. Mihailova won two more sets of bronze medals in the relay swimming at 4 by 100 m mixed and 4 by 100 m light style.
