It has also happened in our political space that a leader of a party that has performed poorly in elections should assume political responsibility and, as is done in the "white states", resign. At the meeting of the Municipal Council of UDF-Velingrad, held on July 20, the chairman Dr. Tsvetan Dafov did just that - resigned, motivating his decision with the extremely weak result (646 votes) that the municipal organization received at the elections for the National Assembly held in June. According to Dr. Dafov: "A change in leadership is clearly needed to move forward again."
To the question whether the municipal leadership or individual members of it also expected to take personal political responsibility for the weak election result and resign, Dr. Dafov replied: "I don't know, everyone decides for themselves, but no, I don't believe anyone will do it."
After the resignation of Dr. Dafov by statute, the Municipal Council of the UDF should appoint one of the Vice-Presidents - Dr. Ivo Gugalov or Shukri Yakubov to serve as Chairman until a General Assembly of the organization is held, at which a new leader will be elected.
