It was not an easy task to apply for the Project for Employment in Mining and Steel Areas (SMAEP), funded by the PHARE Programme of the European Union and supported by the Social Ministry. So far, only the Agency for Regional Development - Velingrad (ARD) has been invited on October 23 to discuss the financing of its project. The idea of RDA is to create a virtual incubator for practical trainings in cultivated herb cultivation. The agency has already 2 years of experience in the field of herbal production and has a lot to boast in this direction.

The aim is in the cultivation of herbs to be employed unemployed who are exempt from enterprises of the mining industry in the municipalities of Velingrad and Rakitovo. Looking ahead, the authors of the project have the ambition to turn the production of herbs into a family business with the inclusion of the families of the unemployed. Within the framework of the project, a nursery for cultivated herbs will be created, using municipal agricultural land near the quarter. Kamenitza. Partners of the RDA on this project are the municipalities of Velingrad and Rakitovo. The estimates are for the opening of 7 permanent and 39 temporary jobs, 32 farmers and 100 people for whom training will be provided.
