Mario Valoni and Enrico Bassoni from the Italian holding, which proposes to build a landfill for municipal solid waste in Velingrad, held a meeting on May 17th with the interim mayor and municipal councilors. Mr. Valloni again detailed the possibilities of their facilities for waste separation and el production. energy. He stressed that the whole process meets the strict environmental norms in the European Union. The construction of such a plant also brings economic benefit to municipalities, which in most cases are partners in commercial companies. Mr. Valloni also answered numerous questions about the waste collection and separation technology itself, as well as about the additional markets for el. energy, plastics, etc.
All this is very good, but according to the Bulgarian legislation it is proved by an environmental impact assessment (EIA), said the chief expert at RIEW - Pazardzhik Atanasova. She scorched the investment intentions, recalling that a landfill will be built in Pazardzhik and has a project for all nine municipalities in the district to take their waste there. Interim Mayor Atanas Vodev announced that he had received a letter to confirm the participation of the municipality of Velingrad in the project for a landfill in Pazardzhik under the ISPA project, but has not yet confirmed. According to him, the investment offered by the Italian holding in Velingrad would exceed 20 times our annual construction program and allows for a general solution of a bunch of problems. His opinion was joined by the chief architect Todor Enev, according to whom the municipality has an excellent terrain of 40-50 acres, which borders a road and a railway line and would ensure the efficiency of the facility. Most of the councillors were also of the opinion that the idea deserved to be looked at from all sides and to defend the interests of the citizens as well. Because it is clear that if waste is to be driven in Pazardzhik, the garbage fee will be increased. Discussion on the topic will continue at the session on May 31.
