Having fun and crushing them - this is what the Velingrad swimmers wished the time mayor Atanas Vodev hours before they left for Palma de Mallorca as participants in the World Swimming Cup. The school team (6 girls and 6 boys from both secondary schools "V. Levski” and “St. Cyril and Methodius) got this opportunity after winning the school starts organized by the Ministry of Education two years in a row. "I am especially pleased that on May 11 - the day of the brothers Cyril and Methodius, we send young sports hopes to present Velingrad and Bulgaria to the world.This once again proves that our small country has it and will have it. I believe in you and wish you good luck." With these words, Lyubomir Katsarov from the Regional Inspectorate of Education addressed the Velingrad swimmers.He together with the principals of the two schools Emil Mollov and Maria Polezhenska and the coach of the Chepinets swimming club Lyubov Doxinova are the heads of the sports team of the competition in Spain.
To the specially purchased for the competition sports teams with the coat of arms of Bulgaria, the young swimmers received as a gift the national flag to wave in Palma de Mallorca. Each of the contestants also received an organizer with a personal message written by hand by the time mayor Atanas Vodev.
Nearly 19 thousand leva of the necessary amount for the trip and stay of the team in Palma de Mallorca were provided by the Ministry of Sport, with its decisions the Municipal Council added to this money another 5 thousand leva. Support in the organization and preparation of the trip was also provided by the parents of the children themselves.
The return of our swimmers is expected at the beginning of this week. In Palma de Mallorca, they will swim in the competition of their peers from 21 countries around the world. And in this case the most important thing is not how they will qualify, but that they deserved to participate in this competition on behalf of Bulgaria.
