UDF: Beev wants Velingrad to be a private city

14.12.2004 09:47 •
At a general meeting on December 11, the UDF assessed the work of the Municipal Administration and the Mayor of the municipality for the last year. The chairman of the blue party, Dr. Tsvetan Dafov, offered a critical analysis of Fidel Beev's established feudal mode of government (emphasis from him we publish separately), and then a discussion began.
Atanaska Hrischeva recalled that she was the first person to be removed from her position by F. Beev "in a sneaky and dirty way", with a huge manipulation of public opinion with the help of "BBtv". According to her, the "Initiative Committee" from VKTV is a setup, it has people with proven financial violations who export qualified information from the company. Simple accounts show that there can be no talk of draining VKTV by the Sofia-based company EVKK, said Mrs. Hrischeva and pointed out: the annual profit of VKTV is 650 000 leva, the collection rate is about 80% - that is, the revenues are de facto about 520 000 leva; of these 400 000 leva is a wage fund and there are 10-12 000 leva per month left with which fuels are paid, e. energy, reagents and other costs - there is nothing to drain. But with propaganda, people are turning on VKTV and not paying for their water. It turned out that the topic "VKTV" is not indifferent to the members of the UDF and they asked for full clarifications on why it was necessary to conclude a contract with the Sofia "EVKK". Dr. Dafov explained that he signed the contract after a decision of the Municipal Council and a committee with representatives from all political forces, and the goal was through "EVKK" to provide investments for the municipality and opportunities with projects to seek money from European funds. Tanya Goncheva, deputy chairman of the UDF, defined Fidel Beev's program as follows: to accommodate himself as a provider of the municipality and pointed out that for now he does not only load stationery because he does not have a bookstore yet. "We have against us a phenomenon that has decided to conquer the city. We are in totalitarianism and this gave rise to an almost revolutionary situation in Velingrad!", stated Mrs. Goncheva. "Velingrad is a private city! It's not totalitarianism, it's feudalism. There is a terrible negative advertisement for our city, which turned back", was the opinion of Mrs. Vrabka Gugalova.
Mrs. Ekaterina Mihailova spoke critically about the unfinished work on the Sutka project and said that it makes no sense to bet on this project in election programs such as Schuman's Dreaming. Dr. Dafov opposes that in this case the municipality should act flexibly - now to develop other priorities, but the Sutka project should stand in the long term. It alarms about the huge danger that the municipality will not be able to make its own development plan and strategy by the deadline of February 20, 2005, which would ruin our participation in projects under the pre-accession and structural funds of the EU. We are not enemies of the municipality, we constantly talk about this in the Municipal Council, but there is no synchronization, there is no normal communication with the management of the municipality, Dr. Dafov believes. Mayor of Sarnitsa Shukri Yakubov commented on a statement from the hall that of F. Beev will give him money to instill ethnic hatred. All political parties and organizations should not reach for the ethnic map at all. Regardless of who is running for mayor, this problem should not be interfered with. If sparks arise, a fire will be kindled and party attitudes will go into the background, Sh was adamant. Yakubov.
At the end of the meeting, the problem was discussed how to reach voters who are only interested in travelling and bathing for free. Dr. Dafov stated that F. Beev picked fruits from the social policy of the UDF management and pointed out that the free day for pensioners in the bathrooms is set in the UDF concession contract. The meeting was followed by a press conference at which Dr. Dafov gave two examples of the pressure to which municipal councilors were subjected: Stefan Asenov from the Roma party was fired with the intervention of F. Beev, as he did not accept the condition to join his group. For the first time I want to publicly state that the same case was with me - Beev put a condition for me to leave as co-manager of "DCC 1", said Dr. Dafov and accused the deposed mayor of using power for personal interests, harassing people and interfering in their personal lives, that he attempted to build a private city and put many people depending on one person. As harassment of people, it was determined that there is deliberately no lighting in streets where municipal councilors live, the same is the situation in the neighborhood of the former mayor of Vranenitsi. There is no coalition, there are priorities for the municipality, said Dr. Dafov in response to a question whether the UDF will coalition with the BSP for the mayoral elections. He recalled that when there are national interests such as NATO and EU membership, UDF and BSP voted together. The situation in Velingrad is such that the UDF is ready to compromise in order to restore normal life in the municipality. I wish Mr. Beev success, but he cannot confront everyone, said the leader of the UDF.
Asked about the accusations to the councillors that with the removal of Stoyan Dulev as interim mayor they replaced the vote of the voters, Dr. Dafov replied that behind the 20 councillors who voted against Mr. Dulev were also the votes of their voters.
Who created the phenomenon Beev, 1.5 year ago you communicated with him well? To this question, Dr. Dafov replied that he respected Mr. Beev as a proven businessman, but during the management of the UDF the interests of the private business in general were viewed and all investors were tolerated - the Palace, Olympus, concessions, etc. Merrily's one yard, and now F. Beev only defends his own interest.
Dr. Dafov also commented on Sonia Chavdarova's appointment as deputy mayor. Mrs. Chavdarova is in contractual and financial dependence on F. Beev, and as deputy mayor will mix PR-campaign with election activity, concluded the chairman of the UDF.
