The incumbent son mayor of Sarnitsa Shukri Yakubov won a second term after winning the highly contested runoff against DPS candidate Recep Kisyov. The final result was 1175 votes for Yakubov against 1023 votes for Kisyov.
And in Sveta Petka won the candidate raised with the registration of UDF Musa Mandradjiev against the DPS candidate and incumbent mayor Mustafa Buhov. It is no secret, however, that even at these elections in Sveta Petka, the different wings in the DPS competed among themselves under different registrations. Ahmed Alendarov of BZNS-NS is again mayor of Draginovo after losing by only a few votes in the previous election. Mr. Alendarov won his next term in the mayoral chair against the NDSV candidate Serafim Arapov.
BSP won the mayoral runoffs in Grashevo, where Mikhail Alkeev defeated the independent Dimitar Dospatsky and in Birkovo, where Mustafa Terziev will be mayor.
