An English tourist was found in the early morning hours of 25 December in a helpless state in the area of Tsepina Station. The man had a serious head injury and was rushed to a hospital in Plovdiv, where he was operated on. Together with his wife he has arrived for the Christmas holidays in Bansko and apparently they were well entertained because no one in the family remembered how the man ended up on the route of the narrow-gauge.

MOBILE On holidays, mobile phone thefts occur more frequently. During the week, two mobile phones were stolen in Velingrad: one from a table in a coffee shop and the other from a tech store. Police were able to track down and detain both thieves, 23-year-old I. A.S. and her peer P. C.

SCANDAL 50-year-old R. M. from Butrevo was arrested for 24 hours and punished with a fine of 100 leva because of the scandal raised by him in the cafe at the bus station in Velingrad. The man made insults to the staff and those present at the establishment, which was reported in the nearby police station and he was detained under the decree to combat petty hooliganism.

On January 6, Epiphany, in Velingrad, the ritual of throwing the cross will be performed in the three neighborhoods. Traditionally in Chepino, the cross will be thrown into the waters of Lake Kleptuza, in Ludzhene - on the Central Mineral Beach, in Kamenitsa - also on the beach.

EXHIBITION An exhibition from the Scientific Archive of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will visit the Historical Museum - Velingrad. The exhibition, dedicated to 130 years since the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation, will open on January 8, 2008. in the museum in Sq. Kamenitza.

MEETING On 28 December, Mayor Ivan Lebanov met with Prof. Dr. Stoyanka Kenderova, who gave him the collection, issued on the occasion of her anniversary by the National Library "St. Cyril and Methodius". The Mayor and Mrs. Kenderova have discussed future joint work for the benefit of the municipality.
