AWARDS On 26 March in the hall of NATFA "Krastyo Sarafov" in Sofia was held a ceremony for awarding the "Project of the Year" awards of the Bulgarian-Dutch Tulip Foundation. Of the 147 projects presented, 37 were nominated, and of these, the top eight were awarded. The project "Restoration of a sundial in the yard of PGITT "Al. Konstantinov "Veleva", prepared by assistant director Snezhana Pohlupkova and geography teacher Yanka Zahova, was ranked fifth.

The Minister of Finance Plamen Oresharski will allocate 150 000 leva for the construction of the school in Birkovo, informed BSP Chairman Toma Pachalov. The funds were provided after talks with Deputy Minister of Education Kircho Atanasov.

In the days leading up to Easter, employees of RIOKOZ and DVSK will strengthen control over the sales of eggs, meat, kozunak and egg dyes. There are also inspections of nitrate content in spring leafy vegetables, which have not yet given deviations from the norms.

VETERANS On 28 March, a report-election conference of the Union of Veterans was held, which included 99 remaining participants in the two phases of World War II. The Chairman Boris Kyurkchiev delivered a report, and the speakers said with pride that they were defending for the homeland and for saving Europe, but today the state takes extremely insufficient care of them. The leadership so far has been re-elected unanimously.

CELEBRATION The children of Georgi Benkovski Primary School celebrated the International Roma Day on April 8th a week earlier. On March 30 in the ODC they were greeted by the kids from ODC "Fantasia" and received a gift from the municipality - a notebook and a pen.

For a week, police detained three car thieves aged 14 and 16 and three elderly men who stole 12 kilograms of rebar from a warehouse in the Industrial Zone. Before Easter, a thief stole a sheep from a farm in Draginovo, and another stole an el. cable and electric meter from a villa near Velingrad.

The municipal leadership of the Union of the Disabled invites its members to an annual reporting meeting, which will be held on April 10 at 1 p.m. in the big hall of the municipality.
