Among the hundreds of believing Christians who veered on Palm Sunday in Velingrad were Interior Minister Georgi Petkanov and Blue MP Mario Tagarinski. Both were among the crowd waiting for willow branches in the Church of the Assumption.

OIC Mrs. Iva Stancheva from the quota of NDSV took the post of Chairman of the Municipal Election Commission. The incumbent chairwoman Miliana Shuleva resigned for personal and family reasons. The vacant seat of the NDSV in the commission was filled by Rayka Buchkova.

The Pazardzhik District Court and the CECMI, seised by DPS mayoral candidate Recep Kisyov, are still silent on the famous Sarnitsa election case. ODS MP Panayot Lyakov at a press conference in Pazardjik strongly attacked the chairman of the Municipal Council - Velingrad Nejat Kehayov because of the suspended inauguration of Shukri Yakubov in the office of Mayor of Sarnitsa. Mr. Lyakov referred the case to the District Attorney's office. And the municipal organization of UDF-Velingrad issued a declaration in which it expressed strong disagreement with the one held by N. Kehay's voting procedure and non-swearing of oath by Sh. Yakubov. The UDF reminds that Bulgaria is a rule of law state, and this is a gross violation of the law, for which Mr. Kehayov is personally responsible. The UDF expressed unreserved support for Sh. Yakubov.

By the end of April, an exhibition of written eggs from our region will be presented at the Etara Ethnographic Museum near Gabrovo. Its opening on April 1 was attended by the Deputy Mayor R. Hodzhov, the director of the museum Sn. Veleva, the curator G. Kumanov, the master of written eggs Sonia Bachvarova and representatives of the company "PET". Their host was the deputy mayor of Gobrovo, who shared that the municipal budget for culture has 2 million levs for 2004.
