All schools and kindergartens in the municipality of Velingrad stop the strike action and as of this Tuesday classes are renewed everywhere. Teachers remain on strike readiness, the Unified Strike Committee announced.

On November 4, Boncho Zapryanov, a 49-year-old businessman from Velingrad, was shot dead in the Belite Brezi district of Sofia. Police are working on the murder, but have yet to release any versions of the case.

MATURES On November 1, a group of twelfth graders from different schools in Velingrad went to Sofia, where they took part in the national protest against the holding of matriculations for the class of 2008. The youths had prepared posters saying that they did not want them to be the experienced bunnies of education reform.

By November 16, the traditional for the autumn action "Light" will continue. The authorities of the Ministry of Interior will exercise increased control over the working order of lighting systems and signalling of motor vehicles. Together with the municipalities, the condition of the road pavements, street lighting, horizontal and vertical signalling will be checked. Until 9 November, police officers will only warn drivers of detected irregularities, and from 9 to 15 November they will impose sanctions. For worn tires, the fine is 6 control points and 50 leva, for malfunctioning luminaries 5 points and from 20 to 150 leva are taken away.

Readings On the occasion of the Day of the Enlighteners 1 November and 125 years of preschool education in Bulgaria were held pedagogic readings. Organizer and host was the Regional Inspectorate of Education in Pazardzhik. In the readings from the municipality of Velingrad participated N. Stefanova, V. Maneva, M. Badanova, R. Lalova and M. Yakimova. The main topic was the history, culture and integration of Roma.

Seminar "Public-Private Partnerships - an Alternative Model for the Development of Municipal Economies" was held at the Light Hotel. Speakers from Sofia, Stranja and Perushtitsa spoke on the topic. The next seminar, organized by the Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry, took place at the ARP/CBI. It is part of the "Action 2013" strategy, which aims to increase productivity and reach European standards in the sector. The seminar was held in conjunction with the German GTZ Technical Cooperation Society.

UNIFORMS Students at the boarding school "Angel Uzunov" in Rakitovo will have uniforms. This is made possible by the project "Uniforms in IUI as a motivation for positive behavior". The initiative is a joint one of the school and IGA Prevention Fund.

FOOD On October 30, the Regional Council on Food Safety met. A report was made on a thematic inspection that lasted from May to September and examined the qualities of packaged sandwiches sold in the store network. 25 retail outlets in Velingrad were checked, the result is that there is no microbiological contamination and the offered ready sandwiches meet the requirements.
