Firefighter Ivan Botsev from Velingrad is in the group of 91 Bulgarian firefighters, who on December 3 went to Israel to join in extinguishing the major fires in the northern part of the country. The entire world community has sent help to fight the unmemorable firestorm. The Bulgarians put out fires in Mount Carmel and in the suburbs of Haifa. All are in good health and are expected to return to Bulgaria this week after the fire in Israel subsides.



STUDENTS Velingrad is the most preferred place to celebrate the student holiday December 8, tour operators reported. Local hotels have offered lucrative packages for students, and the city is expected to be filled with young celebrating people this week. In Velingrad they will have fun for December 8 and students from neighboring Greece.

ELHA Traditionally, the municipality will place a Christmas tree on the central square "Nikolay Gyaurov" in Velingrad. The beautiful tree was provided gratuitously by WOGS "Yundola", and the mayor Ivan Lebanov specifically thanked the director of the farm Ilko Zivripanov.

NOMINATION Mayor of the Municipality of Velingrad Ivan Lebanov received an invitation from the Executive Director of the Employment Agency at the MLSP Rositsa Steliyanova to participate in the Employer of the Year ceremony. The event is scheduled for December 15 in the capital, and the mayor of Velingrad is among the nominees for the prestigious title.

The children from the family-type accommodation center in Velingrad won first place in the contest "My symbol for Bulgaria", organized by the Agency for Social Assistance in connection with the European year for combating poverty and social exclusion. In the Applied Art Studio at the Center for Community Support, the children of Velingrad worked out their group work "Rosy". On December 2 at the Rodina Hotel they received their awards from the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Valentina Simeonova.

PROJECT On December 7, the municipality of Velingrad organized a public discussion on a project for social inclusion, and on December 10 the Municipal Council will meet in an extraordinary session on the same topic.

NIKULDEN Traders raised the price of fish on the eve of Nikulden and a kilogram of mackerel reached 6 leva. In Velingrad, the holiday was traditionally celebrated with a fish kurban near the chapel of St. Nikola in the Nikulyova church area.
