Happy Birthday December 10, 2007 Mayor Ivan Lebanov turned 50 years old. Many friends, colleagues, statesmen from all over the country and from all levels of power sent their congratulations and wishes for the jubilee. The mayor was also congratulated by the employees of the Municipality of Velingrad. The official celebration is forthcoming and many illustrious and famous guests are waiting for it.

NICULDEN Dozens of Velingradians gathered on December 6 at the chapel of St. Nicholas in the Nikulova church area to celebrate the day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Among those present, who tried the illuminated fish coop, was also the mayor Ivan Lebanov.

MAYORS Each month the mayors of town halls in the municipality of Velingrad will have one day of training in which they will get acquainted with the main administrative laws and regulations affecting their activities. The first training was conducted on December 6 by the Secretary of the Municipal Administration Stoyanka Karpacheva.

A violent crash along the Pazardzhik - Plovdiv road claimed the life of a 40-year-old Velingrad woman. The driver of the truck carrying Velingrad mineral water was also seriously injured. The causes of the crash are still being elucidated.

Quality During the weekend, an international business forum was held at Bor Hotel, organized by Vagonrepair Plant 99 Septemvri - the first Bulgarian company to receive a TSI certificate for quality in the production of wheelsets. Deputy Minister of Transport Georgi Petarneichev presented a distinction to the Ministry of Transport to the director of the plant Emil Yonchev. The forum was attended by other MPs, including the MEP Petya Stavreva, mayors of municipalities, the district governor, the executive director of BDZ Oleg Petkov and others.

PALAGE Police lead to discovery of arson case. On the night of December 4, it was lit stored in the courtyard of the 44-year-old K. T. construction timber. The fire was contained quickly, the damage was not great, but the version of deliberate ignition is under investigation.

Intruder 25-year-old A. E. from Krastava was left without a truck and 2.5 cc of lumber seized by police. The man was caught at Chepino Forest Station carrying the 4-meter-tall trees in a truck with no license plates, no license plate and a mark of the wood. Rapid police proceedings are underway in the case.

CIRC Three pythons, tarantulas and iguanas were the main attraction of the traveling circus, which did several performances in the schools of Velingrad during the week. The children watched with interest Ukrainian acrobats and cheerful clowns.

The graduates of the Day Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities "Hope" participated in a Talent Day. With their drawings, songs, dances, appliqus they celebrated the International Day of People with Disabilities 3 December under the motto "And different we are equally needed! Together we can do more!". The festive day's treats were provided by local businessmen, for whom the children made Christmas cards as a token of gratitude.
