PROCUROR Completed the competition announced by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) for the administrative head of the Regional Prosecutor's Office - Velingrad. With a unanimous vote of 23 in favor, the SJC named District Attorney Elena Malinova, who until now had been acting temporarily. The other candidate for the post was Prosecutor Asen Palaveev.



BUDGET By decision of July 8, Administrative Court - Pazardzhik cancelled the changes in the municipal budget made by the Municipal Council by decision of February 2010. The councillors' decision in question was challenged by the district governor. According to the court, no evidence has been presented for a public discussion on the changes. The decision is subject to appeal before the Supreme Administrative Court.

From July 19 to 30, the Bulgarian Red Cross will hand out the first tranche of groceries for socially disadvantaged people. They are provided by EU stocks and are intended for people who received energy aid between 2009-2010. The food package will include 6 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of spaghetti, 1.200 kg of pasta, 0.400 kg of biscuits. The aid will be distributed at a temporary point in Velingrad.

The centenary On July 6, the Velingrad woman Tsvetana Stoeva Stoeva turned 100 years old. Mayor Ivan Lebanov sent a congratulatory address to the centenary.

POLYOMIELITE 1200 children in Pazardzhik district, mostly from the Roma community, do not have personal doctors and are not covered by the compulsory polio immunization, the Regional Government announced. A 10-day period was given with the help of Roma mediators to track these children down and start their vaccinations.

Films This week, every day at 5 pm, films nominated at the festival "On the East Coast", which is part of the program of the exchange "Cultural Tourism" in Veliko Tarnovo, will be shown in the Art Gallery. In the evening of July 10, a rally of Muslims was held in Draginovo against the court decision by which Nedim Gendzhev was confirmed in the post of Grand Mufti. The protesters declared themselves in defense of the current spiritual leader of the faith Mustafa Hadzhi, who is originally from Draginovo.
