Independence Day September 22 was celebrated with a short celebration in front of the municipality building, where the anthem was performed and the flags of Bulgaria, the EU and Velingrad were hoisted. A word on the historical significance of the declaration of Bulgarian independence was delivered by Deputy Mayor Snezhana Veleva.

The case, which the municipality is leading to the expropriation of the property of heirs Maslarovi to the Cultural House, will continue after the District Court did not make a final decision at the September 17th session. An additional private appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court will also be filed by the heirs, which may also stop the decision.

A group of municipal councillors together with Deputy Mayor Angel Toporchev visited the honorary citizen of Velingrad Manol Cholev on 21 September. The occasion was his hundredth birthday, for which the mayor Dr. Dafov sent a congratulatory address. More about Manol Cholev - on p. 4.

The Mayor Dr. Tsvetan Dafov sent an official greeting address to the residents of Sarnitsa in connection with the announcement of the settlement as a town. Last week, the decision of the Council of Ministers was promulgated in the State Gazette, making Sarnitsa the second city in our municipality.

INVITATION On September 27, at 3 pm, a literary meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising will take place at the Velina Hotel. The initiator of the meeting is the poet Angel Pachalov, who will read his works. Entrance is free.

EXHIBITION 20 paintings from the Velingrad Art Gallery are exhibited in the Georgi Mashev Gallery in Pazardzhik. The curator of our gallery Branko Manushev has selected canvases that were painted during the traditional summer plein airs and donated by the authors. Pazardjik people will be able to visit the exhibition until the end of October.

Fire On September 18, minutes after midnight in Cholakovo burn the two-storey house of a 65-year-old man. They burned the two floors of the home, large amounts of beams, planks, firewood, 10 tons of hay. Damages and causes are clarified, knowledge is formed.
