The Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Mr. Yuri Isakov will visit Velingrad on November 25. The invitation was extended by the mayor of the municipality Ivan Lebanov and the association "Rusofili" chaired by Georgi Pashov. The program includes a visit to the Park of Liberators, and until then the local association "Slavyani" will repair the fountain in front of the Sulfur Bath with funds donated by the Russian Embassy. The guest will also bow at the grave of the Russian diplomat D. Fedorenko at the Central Cemetery in Velingrad.



SESSION On a long agenda of 43 points will take decisions Municipal Council - Velingrad on November 25 at 9.30. Monday through Wednesday will be the meetings of the six standing committees.

On 16 and 17 November, the Mohammedans of the municipality celebrated their great religious holiday, Kurban Bayryam. The days were off for some of the educational institutions. On November 15, DPS councillors treated their colleagues from the Municipal Council with baklava. Mayor Ivan Lebanov greeted in a special address those professing the Muslim religion from the municipality of Velingrad.

TOURISM The Territorial Bureau of Statistics in Pazardzhik reported that in the third quarter of 2010. revenues from accommodation throughout the district amounted to BGN 3 705 946. For the whole country, the growth of revenues in tourism for the said period was 12.6%.

Chitalishta The Ministry of Culture announced the results of the competition session on November 16 for approved projects of Chitalishta for amounts up to 2000 leva. Among the approved are the three community centers in Velingrad, "Prosveta" Sarnitsa and "M. Draginov” in Draginovo. From the municipality of Rakitovo up to 2000 leva will receive the community centers in Kostandovo and Dorkovo. No local community center won funding from the National Endowment Fund "13 Centuries Bulgaria", which also announced the approved projects from its session on October 8.

THEATRE The amateur theater at ONCH "Father Paisii" - Velingrad played on the stage of Drama Theatre "Konstantin Velichkov" in Pazardzhik. On 16 November, Velingradians showed through the audience in the district center Hristo Boychev's play "Titanic Orchestra" directed by Marius Donkin.

"Sea" Film Program of the Bulgarian National Television started filming for two advertising films about Velingrad. Each of them will last 13 minutes and will be broadcast on BNT and the satellite channel.

On November 15, at Vasil Levski Secondary School, together with RIOKOZ-Pazardzhik, an information course was held to prepare lecturers and leaders on the problems of narcotic substances and the consequences of their use. The training was attended by students from 5 to 8 grade and pedagogical counselors from all schools in the city. The idea is in future anti-drugs work to use the formula "Peers train peers". The same day, together with RIOKOZ, an open lesson was held in a preparatory group of Kindergarten "Sunshine" on the topic "Smoking - harmful to our health".
