With the ritual slaughter of animals on December 20, the great Muslim holiday of Kurban Bayryam began. Greetings for the holiday to the residents of the municipality of Velingrad professing Islam were given by Mayor Ivan Lebanov and BSP Chairman Toma Pachalov.

The Professional High School of Forestry "Hristo Botev" and Regional Police Department - Velingrad were awarded for their assistance in rescue operations of protected species. Their diplomas were awarded by the Regional Inspectorate of Environmental Protection on the occasion of 29 December - International Day for the Conservation of Biodiversity.

From students to pensioners - all age groups and professions took part in the dozens of banquets held in the last week in Velingrad. On December 21 in the evening in Kamena at a banquet gathered also the employees of the municipality.

Police arrested 26-year-old V. R. from Velingrad for stealing perfume goods from a food store. The 41-year-old X was also taken into custody in one day. B., drove a car with 1.92 milled alcohol.

The Municipality of Velingrad has submitted a proposal and relies on a positive response for the inclusion of Georgi Benkovski Primary School in the project "Beautiful Bulgaria". The school building needs a new roof and sanitation. The Old Council building will also be proposed for renovation under the same project.

On 20 and 21 December, the 26th Trade Union Council of the Bulgarian Teachers' Union was held in the park-hotel "Moscow" in the capital. It was attended by the chairwoman of the SBU Maria Fertsova and the chairwoman of the Unified strike committee Mariana Baylova.

The book "Healing Plants" by Ivan Ivanov was presented on December 21 in the municipal information center.
