AGREEMENT The Agency for Regional Development - Velingrad signed a contract with the Fund "13 Centuries Bulgaria", which is the owner of the house donated by Tsveta Damyanova in the center of Velingrad. Under the contract, AP will lease the first and ground floors of the house. The relocation of the Regional Development Agency was necessary after the Municipal Council decided at the request of the temporary mayor Stoyan Dulev to leave the premises of the municipal enterprise "Information Center for Small and Medium Business". Meanwhile, on Thursday last week, the new director of the municipal enterprise Daniela Peneva took office.

EUROSTANDARTI The Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry held on July 22 a regional seminar in the training base of the Yundola University of Forestry. The seminar was organized with the support of PHARE program and its main goal was to introduce the companies from the industry to the European standards for the enterprises and their activities. Lecturers were the Executive Director of BCDMP Genoveva Hristova and experts from the State Agency for Metrology.

On Monday and Tuesday last week, a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme for Serbia was on a visit to Velingrad. The work of UNDP in Serbia has started recently and it will benefit Bulgarian experience. UNDP - Bulgaria have chosen to show their Serbian colleagues the Velingrad Center for Business and Information as the best in the country. The guests have visited the herb incubator, the eco-sweet production workshop and have been particularly impressed by the leasing schemes under which the Agency for Regional Development - Velingrad is working.

BRIDGE Since 24 July, the Fifth International Sports Bridge Festival "Velingrad 2004" has started at Velina Hotel, organized by the local bridge-club. The festival includes 8 separate tournaments, with the big doubles and the big team tournament starting in the middle of this week. This year, international participation is from Croatia.

LATINO On Saturday for the first time a demonstration of Latin-dancing took place in the center of Velingrad. For the residents of Velikograd and the guests of the resort, the complex Latino steps showed Mr. Bambos, who is originally from Cyprus, but has perfected his dancing skills in Cuba. In the square the beauty of the Latin-dances shone in the performance of the professional school of Latino from Cyprus, whose performers attracted in the fiesta and quite the young audience.
