Vela Peeva's memorials dawned on Saturday morning decorated with swastikas and obscene drawings. The perpetrators are wanted, but so far are unknown. The municipality organizes cleaning of the monuments.



At the beginning of this week, it is expected that an interim mayor of the municipality will be elected at a session of the Rakitovo Municipal Council to take the post of the suddenly deceased mayor Angel Govedarski until elections are held. Meanwhile, by a June 23rd ruling, the Administrative Court - Pazardzhik dismissed the appeal, by which the district governor contested the decision of the Municipal Council to terminate the powers of Georgi Popchev and the election of Nikola Fastkov as President of the local parliament. The litigation continues as the order is subject to appeal.

FOREST DLS "Chepino" - Velingrad received one of the specialized SUVs "Toyota", purchased by the State Forestry Agency for extinguishing forest fires. The jeep will serve the region of Velingrad and Rakitovo. The car is model "Highlux", has a fire module and additional equipment of forest fire extinguishing, GPS, stationary and mobile radio station. During the fire season, trained specialists will be on 24-hour duty.

AWARD District Prosecutor's Office - Velingrad protested the decision of the District Court, which released from custody the two men captured by the police with large quantities of explosives. By definition, the District Court - Pazardzhik ruled for the Velingradian D. D. measure "retention in custody", and for the dredger M. K. measure "subscription". Work on the case, in which cannabis levels over Kamenica were also found, continues.

The Regional Road Administration - Pazardzhik boasted with the completion of the repair works on the road Velingrad - Sarnitsa. For road patching with asphalt, the National Road Infrastructure Agency has given 360 000 leva, and for an entirely new road surface on a section of 2.3 kilometers - another 500 000 leva. The road has been waiting for repairs since the summer of 2005, when it was destroyed by the floods.

On July 3, the 70th anniversary of longtime public figure and artist Milen Nalbantov will be celebrated in the community center in Draginovo. The literary evening will be dedicated to his work as a reflection of the Draginovo lifestyle and culture.
