The villages turned the vote in favor of Petar Stoyanov

12.11.2001 13:48 •
The first round of the presidential elections on November 11 brought surprises in Velingrad as well.
First came the results of the sections in the city, which showed a large preponderance for BSP couple Georgi Parvanov - Angel Marin - 3819 votes. The Socialists' candidates garnered 1,000 votes more than the independents, but supported by ODS, NMSV, VMRO and "Gergyovden" Petar Stoyanov - Nelly Kutzkova - 2794 votes. Third in Velingrad is Bogomil Bonev, who received 1804 ballots.

Significant is the distribution of votes for the main contenders by neighborhoods. In Kamenica G. Parvanov won 1,653 votes. Twice as many as there are Ps. Stoyanov - 828 votes. Chepino also voted in red: 972 votes for Parvanov, 669 for Stoyanov. Only the sections in Ludgene give a small advantage for the current president - 1271 votes against 1168 for the BSP candidate. After the arrival of the results of the villages, however, the picture turned upside down: 1800 votes for Petar Stoyanov, only about 400 for Parvanov. The figures show that with 650 votes in the area even Bogomil Bonev is ahead of the left-wing candidate. Thus, the vote in the largest villages Draginovo (657 votes for P. Stoyanov and 61 for G. Parvanov) and in Sarnitsa (303 for Stoyanov, 52 for Parvanov) practically reversed the vote and tipped the scales of victory in the first round in the municipality of Velingrad in favor of the acting president. What trends lie behind the figures from the first round of the presidential elections in Velingrad? For ODS - the total number of ballots is a breath of air after the disastrous parliamentary elections that sent ODS to fourth place among the political forces in the municipality. However, this may turn out to be ostensibly. More than worrying about the UDF should be the fact that sections in the city have massively "reddened". For the votes that came from the villages, a huge fight for the second round will be needed, because there everything will depend on Ahmed Dogan's "password" to the DPS. For BSP - Socialists are entitled to satisfaction from winning in the city. The slight rise for the left was seen in the parliamentary elections - 2,883 votes, and now at least 1,300 more ballots have been cast for her candidate in the municipality. This is how the forecast of the leader of BSP - Velingrad, Toma Pachalov, came true that the Socialists will take more votes in the presidential elections compared to the parliamentary ones. If this is a trend, there is plenty to think about for other competitors. At the same time, there is no doubt that the BSP has lost serious positions in the villages. For NDSV - if the movement has ambitions of political power, it should not account for the results as a success. The request for political support remained just a request. The supporters in Velingrad NDSV in June this year 8250 voters did not fulfill the political mandate of their leader Simeon the Second to cast a vote for Petar Stoyanov. Probably in the first round many of them supported Bogomil Bonev and others did not vote. From them to a very large extent will depend on the results of the runoff and this puts a serious test on whether NDSV will be able to mobilize its sympathizers. For the DPS - in the last 11 years never single application of DPS has received such a low result in the municipality of Velingrad. Against 4445 ballots in the parliamentary elections, now only 621 people voted for the candidate of the movement Reneta Indzhova. This is a deliberate move by Dogan - it was shown by the lack of an election campaign in the area and by the constant signals that the DPS wants a second round. Because this week and the expected negotiations for support for the umpteenth time put DPS in the most beloved by Dogan situation of the balancer who tilts the scales in his chosen direction. For Bogomil Bonev - the general got a worthy result in Velingrad. 20% is not small when there is no working party structure behind you. But they are also difficult to exceed in the absence of one. At an organized election meeting with Vice Presidential candidate At. Less than 10 people came to Velingrad. Apparently, the lack of organization among Bonev's potential electorate played a bad joke on him. For political parties in general - another deafening slap. He was hit by over 60% of the people from Leningrad who were right, but did not vote for anyone in this election. The struggle for their ballots goes not through "new times" but through another morality of the political class. The electorate is no longer caught up in promises and talk, the vast majority of the people of Velingrad unequivocally insist on another type of government and rulers. Elena Baeva

The editorial board of v. "Tempo" thanked the BSP and UDF for the assistance in collecting the results of the sections.
