He will lead those who will sweep the City Council.
The press conference given by the mayoral candidate Fidel Beev on January 31 in Pazardzhik received wide response. And while the central media paid the most attention to the scandalous accusations of F. Beev v. Ekaterina Kaferinova (see p. 3), in Velingrad and the municipality most commented were his threats that these elections in Velingrad would be very scary.
Mr. Beev said that "in order to save Velingrad", he personally is ready to stand in front and lead the people who came "from above" to "sweep" the Municipal Council. Asked what "from above" meant, he stated: "They can come from above, from below, from wherever they want!". But he was adamant that so far he was the only one stopping people from sweeping away the Municipal Council, which was a nest of wasps and corruption. Rough personal insults Mr. Beev also addressed the Chairman of the Municipal Council Nejat Kehayov, who did not have his abilities, was only a "one teacher" and a "passenger".
"Whoever has money, to participate in elections, who will not - watch!" was the other thesis of the mayoral candidate, who with self-confidence said that there is no lack of money in them, and the headquarters of his opponent Atanas Vodev is poor and collected funds from businessmen. Bulgaria suffered because poor and hungry pushed themselves into politics.
On the occasion of his chosen campaign slogan "Together against corruption", journalists asked the candidate mayor for his definition of corruption. The leading press conference Sonia Chavdarova came to the rescue with the words that corruption is a "deal in which we do not participate". (This has subsequently prompted comments as to whether, in such a case, the candidate mayor is not only against this deal in which he does not participate.) Beev calmly replied that he also paid before becoming mayor and that is why he ran for the mayor's post. "I can pay another 100 years!", Mr. Beev said and concluded the press conference with an unprecedented habituation of journalists and a finger-waving to his inconvenient media.
