A fine of BGN 20,000 must be paid by Chepino Autotransport for dumping the prices of bus tickets on the line Velingrad - Kostandovo - Dorkovo in 2002. The decision was taken by the Supreme Administrative Court on June 16, 2004, Focus Agency reported. The court dismissed Chepino Motor Transport's appeal against the decision of the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) and believed that the CPC had reasonably accepted that Chepino Motor Transport's market strategy was aimed at eliminating competition in public transport on this line. We recall that about 2 years ago the company of the Beevi brothers was driving along the 15-kilometer route Velingrad - Kostandovo - Dorkovo with a ticket at the price of 1 cent. The Commission for Protection of Competition considered that by these actions the firm had pushed competitors out of the market in which it had a dominant position. By law, the actions of undertakings with a monopoly or dominant position which are aimed at preventing competition are prohibited. Such actions also lead to harming the interests of consumers - the fact is that with today's date the price of tickets along the same line is already a hundred times greater - 1 lev.
