On October 11, the regional governor Ivan Dimitrov invited 17 councilors from Velingrad to a meeting. These are the councillors from 8 parties and 1 independent, who formed a new majority in the Municipal Council. The two important decisions they voted in August for the post of interim mayor were suspended by Deputy Governor Yumer Hamza and this strained relations between the local parliament and the district government. More tensions came to light during the meeting between municipal councillors and MPs a week ago. A few days after the visit of the Velingrad municipal councilors to the National Assembly, the invitation came from Mr. Dimitrov for a new meeting in Pazardzhik with the participation of the MPs from NDSV Milena Milotinova, Penka Peneva and Valentin Miltenov.
The councilors from Velingrad together with the chairman of the Municipal Council Nejat Kehayov left for Pazardzhik with the attitude of useful dialogue, but after their return they announced that they were disappointed and offended. First of all, to their huge surprise, the meeting at the level of deputies - district government - municipal councilors was also attended by Mr. Fidel Beev, who was present together with his supporters. Criticism to the work of the Municipal Council - Velingrad and specifically to its chairman was directed by the Chairman of the Municipal Council - Pazardzhik Todor Popov. This extended participation and the attacks on the Velingrad local parliament have completely changed the design and level of the meeting. Much of the councillors from Velingrad left, and the opinions and positions exchanged in the hall did not lead to a constructive result. It is inconceivable in what capacity Mr. Beev was invited to the meeting with the regional governor and on the eve of the court case in SAC, shared the majority of the attending councillors. Apparently, their discontent was heard at higher levels, as in the following days the regional governor Ivan Dimitrov again invited and talked with leaders of major political parties from Velingrad to look for ways to smooth the contradictions in the joint work.
