In the last election week, a series of prominent sports figures announced their support for candidate mayor Ivan Lebanov. Penev also commented on the appearances of the four Bulgarian football teams in UEFA tournaments during the week. Before he left, Dimitar Penev donated racing teams and balls for the children's football teams and gave away numerous autographs to fans.
On the evening of September 16, Ivan Lebanov also received the support of the new Chairman of the State Agency for Youth and Sports, Vessela Lecheva. She participated in the final election meeting in the big hall of the municipality and said that athletes are the ones who can fight every day for the sake of their goal to be at the top. As a person who has glorified Bulgaria, Ivan Lebanov should be the new face of Velingrad in front of Bulgaria. Ms. Lecheva posed as an urgent problem the state of the municipal sports base, the funding of school sports and games and pointed out Ivan Lebanov as a person who can best solve this problem.
