The 5-day visit of the mayor of the municipality Dr. Tsvetan Dafov at the invitation of the mayor of the Swiss city of Chaux-de-Fonds, Mr. Charles Ausburg, ended. From 23 to 27 May Dr. Dafov, accompanied by his family, returned the visit of Mr. Ausburg, who visited Velingrad last summer.
For the Swiss, the accepted tradition of twinning cities in our country is not of interest, they are interested in a specific business cooperation. That is why, in the Chau de Font, the mayor has presented four of our projects: for the heating of the municipal hospital and Vasil Levski Secondary School, for the street infrastructure and for the creation of an Ethnographic Museum near Chepino. The greatest interest among Swiss hosts has provoked the museum project, which they say should look like a settlement for craftsmen. It was agreed that the local parliament of Chaux-de-Fonds would be familiar with the idea and, if it gave its consent, the Swiss would financially support the establishment of an artisanal settlement in Velingrad.
At the Chaux-de-Fonds, Dr. Dafov had an intense program. The 38,000-strong city 6 kilometers from the conditional border with France is the center of a clockwork industry. A watch factory also has the Bulgarian businessman Mr. Tsvetkov. The mayor has also held a meeting with the Statkov family - Bulgarian emigrants, who have donated nearly 1 million for our orphanages over the years. The program included a visit to the Shattel Expo and meetings with the management team of the city, which consists of only 5 people.
At the same time, the head of BNT Kiril Gotsev, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, visited the Swiss city. "24 hours" Venelina Gocheva and the host of "Ah, these snouts" Ekaterina Genova. They were there at the invitation of Mr. Ausburger's wife Lea Cohen, who organized an art festival to present Bulgaria.
Dr. Dafov participated in a joint press conference for Swiss and Bulgarian media together with Mr. Ausburger.
