Freedom of speech and thought instead of barricades and trenches

The premiere of the collection "Discourse" by Dr. Alexander Popov gathered in the hall of the Art Gallery many people who came to pay respect to the famous writer and doctor. The evening of November 6 was opened with a recital of his works, and the new book "Discourse" presented its editor Todor Balkanski. In terms of calm tone, it looks a lot like Yovkov, but it is not Yovkov; in terms of brevity, it reminds Elin Pelin, but it is not Elin Pelin; in revealing folk psychology, it is close to Konstantin Petkanov, but it is not Petkanov - so the reviewer defined the prose of Dr. Popov, which, according to him, is another way to represent the Bulgarian division of the world into black and white. Interesting is the position of the doctor-writer: objective, but also ruthless when it comes to human pain; without chameleonism - dares to say that in the past political time there is also a black side. And in terms of language, Dr. Popov is the third of a host of doctors after Dimitar Dimov and Valeri Petrov, who are true masters of the Bulgarian language, T said. Balkan and summarized "mature wisdom dressed in elegant speech".
How do I see myself? Dr. Popov tried to answer this question in his statement-confession. He told that he collected the 67 texts in "Discourse", scattered in various editions and lying for years in the drawer, because in them is his experience, observations, worries and because "Words fly away, what is written remains". I also wanted to put my pebble in the colorful mosaic of life that my generation experienced, said Dr. Popov and shared that he never felt like a writer, but is one of the numerous participants in the artistic self-activities. It is she who fills a huge gap, although a lot of people look down on her. But both Sofroniy and Zahari Stoyanov were also in their own way amateurs, and time most accurately shows what it costs.
As the main handicap of the Bulgarian society, the author defined the incoherence, the indiscretion and recalled Irechek's words "No one let rise, everything falls into the mud" as well as Ivan Vazov's observations on the enmity and rivalry between Kamenica and Ludzhene more than a century ago. Dr. Popov explained these features of our national character with the five centuries of slavery, followed by the social stratification with which the Bulgarian puts up with hard.
I was happy to wait for the freedom of thought and speech and to sign the Constitution, in which this is written, with excitement said Dr. Popov. When I wrote down my memories, I only complied with my own conscience. The author of "Discourse" is not a man from the barricades, from the trenches, for whom those on his side are the good ones and the rest are the bad ones. From your opponent you can hear true things about yourself and draw conclusions, believes Dr. Popov, realizing that the great principles of humanism today are put to a severe test. Some gifts for the premiere of the book were the friendly charge of the poet Anna Margova, the piano performances of Ivan Pachev, the flowers from the board of the community center "Otets Paisiy", the congratulatory address and flowers from the temporary mayor of the municipality St. Dulev. Also the high marks for the book by the chairman of the Literary Club Avram Gerev, of Mr. Popov from Pazardzhik, who emphasized the important role and support of the wife of the writer Mrs. Elena Popova. And Vladimir Vargov's no less valuable words: "For many years I worked together with Dr. Popov - he as a doctor, I as a gardener in the hospital, with whom patients shared their assessment for the doctors. No patient has ever told a bad story about Dr. Popov. That's enough!"
The evening ended with a glass of white wine, and the guests had the opportunity to see the calligraphic exhibition arranged in the Art Gallery by Georgi Veselinov - artist of the elegant cover of "Discourse".
