The Union of Free Democrats, founded by Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofiyanski, already has a structure in Velingrad. The establishment was on April 4 at the Corona restaurant. Present is the leader of the SDS in Pazardzhik lawyer N. Bozhilov, who was previously a municipal councilor from the UDF (Democratic Party). Mr. Bozhilov became known in Velingrad as a legal adviser on the privatization deal of the former municipal polyclinic. As a guest of the first meeting of the Free Democrats attended Dr. Tsvetan Dafov - mayor of the municipality and chairman of the UDF.
Dr. Naumir Naumov - a dentist who works in Rakitovo, was elected President of the Union of Free Decocrats in Velingrad. The deputy chairman is the orthopedist Dr. Kostadin Paunov. Among the founders of the SDS there were also doctors, economists and private entrepreneurs, including famous names such as Georgi Tselev and Angel Chopev.
