Mr. Milian Arsov is the third deputy mayor of the Municipality of Velingrad. He is 30 years old, was born in Kardzhali, graduated from the University of Mining and Geology in Sofia, and is currently studying economics at Moscow State University. He has worked in the non-governmental sector, has been involved in consulting activities, and in the Municipality of Velingrad he will be directly responsible for European integration.
Mr. Arsov was officially presented by Mayor Fidel Beev on March 9 in the presence of the mayors and mayoral deputies in the municipality. In front of them, the new deputy mayor announced that his goal would be to attract as much money as possible from the European programs and funds, which is especially important for a municipality like Velingrad with problems in infrastructure and unemployment. After hearing the main problems of the settlements, a pre-accession program will be made. We should all be infected with enthusiasm, but we cannot expect that rivers of funds will flow to a small municipality like Velingrad and it will become an oasis, Mr. Arsov stressed. According to him, there are perfect conditions here for the development of alternative agriculture and for ecotourism. Emphasis was also placed on the problem that in many of the programs the municipality is asked to participate with certain funds, for which there is not always an opportunity.
The meeting was also attended by the manager of the Center for Business and Information Vaska Milusheva, who presented the projects they are working on. She stressed that so far there has been a lack of a department in the municipality to deal mainly with the projects on European integration. We recall that according to the new structure of the administration to the deputy mayor will work a European integration department with a state of 3 pieces.
