The sale of flowers falls into the golden mean between trade and art. And in Magnolia store you convince yourself that it is more art: Gergana Stefanova's ability to create beautiful and unique bouquets is well known in Velingrad. People do not buy flowers every day, some emotional occasion leads them to the store - sometimes a holiday, sometimes a great sorrow. At such a time to offer the desired flower and the exact arrangement is required not only commercial, but purely human sense plus a lot of knowledge about the beauty of the flowers. Work that is not easy, especially here and now, Gergana says: "The Magnolia flower shop has been working for a third year now. I turned my favorite pastime - flowers, arranging and packaging into my work. In my opinion, man is created according to a certain measure and must develop in himself what he knows, what he can, what works for him. I like and love my work, although lately it has been progressively declining. My observations are that I am not the only one facing this problem. My work is specific and difficult to fit into the difficult times in which we are forced to live. Because without food we can't, but without a flower and a little beauty we can go longer.
I give a lot of myself and I am glad to see joy and gratitude in the eyes of the client. This confession pleases me. Although I have been working in this store for the third year, I still don't take any money for the work on the arrangement or packaging. I wish people had money so I could make a real assessment of the work I put in.
The costs are huge at the moment, the prices are hard to keep up, especially around the big holidays. All the khroys must have shrunk their expenses to the extreme, as I and my family have done. Flowers are both a sign and a symbol, and an occasion for mood. And I don't need to convince customers of the beauty of some flower, arrangement or packaging. It is clear to me that they feel and experience all very well. But unfortunately it is the fact that they can less and less afford to buy something for themselves or to please a loved one on a good occasion. I see that my clients have a need to relax their soul with some beautiful flower, but unfortunately many of them no longer have the opportunity to do so.
Stagnation everywhere becomes unbearable. The fact that we exist and to some extent succeed is largely due to our Bulgarian stubbornness. However, this can not be called a normal business at all. I'm a young man, I have the strength and the desire to expand, for something bigger, but the market in our city limits me. The store has to be open all day. Our merchandise is of limited durability, it is loaded every week. It is difficult to combine a rich assortment of flowers, a variety of accessories, fertilizers, soils. My ambition is to offer new, interesting and unknown species. Who does not want to maximally expand the assortment? But it's all about the search. We're shrinking the supply, and I hope this is temporary. More sadly, the conclusion remains that the Bulgarian no longer has the opportunity to allocate funds for the joy and surprise of loved ones. People seem to have no money left for beauty either. But I'm optimistic, I'll fight for my work until better times."
