Those born in the 1980s do not know what a stadium in Velingrad means. They were too young to see it, because in 1987. Repair work started on it - supposedly for the better, but nothing worked out. Our coquettish stadium, which accepted our national football team, was ruthlessly and mercilessly wasted. And this happened in front of the indifferent eyes of a series of mayors and municipal governments.

It took 15 long years to see again that there is a stadium in Velingrad. When Mr. Fidel Beev became president of Chepinets FC, he promised that one of his main tasks would be the restoration of the stadium with all its halls and with the football pitch and track. The promise is about to be fulfilled, and people will have the opportunity to see what has been done when they visit the stadium. The roof of the hall has been completely repaired, and it has a new wooden floor, ready to welcome players in basketball, volleyball, handball. There will be wrestling halls, for general physical and special physical training, saunas, massage rooms, dressing rooms for judges and athletes, with adjoining rooms with showers and bathtubs. The track is red-siding, as tennis courts have. Currently, the grass cover of the field is not yet ready and football matches will be played only next year. The stadium's grandstands will hold 5,000 seats, with new plastic seats installed in the team's colors - blue and red. The official opening of the stadium was announced for July 27 this year.
