A combined basketball team of Velingrad beat juniors at Hebar (Pazardzhik) with 63:48. This match was played on the occasion of the opening of the overhauled sports hall next to the renovated City Stadium, which took place on July 10 (Saturday) at 11 o'clock.

Without unnecessary formality, the two fives played four parts of 10 minutes in front of the presidents of the main culprit for the restoration of the long-deserted sports hall SD "Brothers Beevi" - Fidel and Krasimir Beevi. In the hall were also noticed the mayor of the municipality of Velingrad Dr. Tsvetan Dafov, the head of the Sports and Tourism Department Todor Bozev, as well as former and current athletes of Velingrad.
The Velingrad team started with a squad of veterans who played over the years not only in Chepinets, but also in other teams from the country. Among them were Kuncho Kunchev, Alexander Gaydev, Veselin Pandev, Ognyan Yakimov and Alexander Stoynov. The originally conceived meeting with veterans of this sport from Pazardzhik did not take place, with the district town presented with a team of juniors from the sports school, led by coach Sava Kosturkov. Velingradians did not miss the initiative in any of the four parts, and for the final victory with 63:48 the most serious contribution was given by Alexander Stoynov, who scored 14 points. In the breaks between the parts, the audience was entertained with performances of couples from OKST "Impulse". After the match, everyone wished for this winning start in the renovated hall to give an impetus for a new start in the sport of our city.
