The citizens of Velingrad showed interest in the reception, organized by the MP from NDSV Valentin Miltanov on October 25 and posed a lot of problems to him. Mr. Miltenov also gave a press conference at which naturally the first question was whether his visit to Velingrad would not be interpreted pre-election. He explained that his work in the National Assembly and in the district is very busy, but he is in Velingrad to feel the pulse of life and problems and to prepare a better concept for the development of the municipality. After the hard word of the court, Velingrad is in an election situation and each of the political headquarters will prepare for elections. A clear management concept is needed because in recent times the results here have not been good, V said. Miltenov. As evidence of the latter finding, it was pointed out that despite the active lobbying by Deputy Prime Minister Lydia Shuleva and MPs, many of the projects for Velingrad have not been implemented. In Peshtera there are already investments of over 2 million leva, also in Panagyurishte, Rakitovo is successful, but in Velingrad these things do not happen.
Pazardjik district is at one of the top places on realized projects that give additional financial injections and change the appearance of municipalities. Mr. Miltenov expressed hope that Velingrad will start working at higher speeds as well, to feel interested by the local authorities, which will also provide the necessary co-financing. As a serious challenge for the NDSV, the MP described the upcoming two tough elections in Velingrad: for mayor and for parliament. According to him, the NDSV's calmly going up rating means that it is already a serious political force. Despite the opposition's criticism, NDSV will continue its policy regarding small settlements. There are villages where nothing has been done for 30 years and it is to them that part of the budget surplus accumulated by the government can be directed. To the question whether there is clarity with whom the NMSII will coalition Mr. Miltenov replied that this will be a decision of the Political Council and that it is quite possible to participate independently in the parliamentary elections. Whether the bar for entering parliament will be raised above 4% is too early to say. But serious changes to the electoral law are being discussed, such as a white ballot vote and a property charge for the parties.
Mr. Miltenov did not want to comment on the case with the municipal company "Stroikom", as the judiciary is very jealous and it is better to wait for its decision first. But he promised to make an official meeting with the head of TDD in Pazardzhik Evg. Christ and discuss with her the possibilities for an outsourced job of the Tax Office in Velingrad. The outcome of the meeting will be clear in 2 weeks, when Mr Miltenov will come again to tour some of the small settlements in the municipality.
