The fifth regular regional conference of DPS was held on 22 September in Pazardzhik. It was attended by 91 delegates from the 11 municipalities of the district. The MRF has its structures in only 6 of the municipalities, in the other 5 (Panagyurishte, Strelcha, Belovo, Lesichovo and Bratsigovo) their incorporation is forthcoming. Most impressive was the group from the municipality of Velingrad with 45 delegates, which elected chairmen of the committees on powers - Ismet Babuchi, on the draft program - Nejat Kehayov and on the proposals - mer Hamza. Rakitovo Municipality was represented with 5 delegates.

The DPS leader Ahmed Dogan was expected to arrive at the conference, but it was later revealed that he would not come. Official guests were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Nihat Kabil, deputies Dzhevded Chakarov, Ismet Saraliyski, Cetin Kazak, the head of the political cabinet of A. Dogan - Ahmed Emin, deputy. Regional Governor Ivan Avramov, representatives of NDSV, BSP, SDS, regional presidents of DPS from Kardzhali, Haskovo and others. As a delegate, Deputy Regional Governor Recep Mollaahmed participated. The conference was opened by the chairman of the regional organization of DPS in Pazardzhik Ahmed Hadzhiyski. He read a report in which he drew attention to the issue of expanding the influence of the DPS and the creation of party structures in all municipalities of the district. No criticism was spared for the results of the 1999 elections, when the full potential of the electorate was not used and no member of the movement was elected from the Pazardjik constituency.
The agenda of the conference included a draft program for the development of the field and the future activity of DPS. Shortly before that, Deputy Minister Nihat Kabil in his welcoming speech noted that the most important thing is to solve the issue of poverty in the areas where the majority population of the DPS electorate.
The following items on the agenda were addressed behind closed doors. The choice of governing bodies, including a district president, was expected with the greatest interest. Two of the nominees for the high post - the municipal leader of the DPS - Velingrad Nedzhat Kehayov and his colleague from September made self-repudiations. Thus, Ahmed Hadzhiyski from Nova Mahala, who had been acting as interim president, was re-elected as the regional chairman. Delegates for the upcoming DPS National Conference were also elected on Sunday evening.
