"I am the interim mayor of the municipality and will remain so as long as the region is in dire straits. In this difficult situation, I do not see myself as a candidate mayor to explain the problems of European integration to elderly people from some retirement club," weather mayor Atanas Vodev said at a press conference last week. Thus, he announced that he would not participate in the elections for mayor of the municipality of Velingrad. As his task, Mr. Vodev determined to work on repairing the damage from the disaster and on the organization of the elections so that the residents of Velingrad and the region could elect a new mayor.
