Our couples won two first places For the second consecutive year our city hosted a round of the national sports dance tournament for the Cup "Velingrad 2001". It was held on Saturday in the "Banner of Peace" hall in the district. Chepino. It was attended by 80 couples from 25 clubs from all over Bulgaria, and the race lasted from 13.30 h. until 22.00 p.m.

In the competition of many couples in class 11 "C" the couple from our sports dance club "Impulse" Blagoy Kunchev - Spasimira Daskalova took the first place, and second in the same class remained other of our graduates: Georgi Mihov - Adriana Gereva. The 7-member jury also ruled first place for another pair of OKST "Impulse", this time in class 15 "V": Evgeni Popov - Lyubka Petakova. In the other classes, the winners were: Class 11 "D": Stoyan Velchev - Mariana Stoilova from the Paradise-Day Club (Plovdiv). Class 15 "B": Simeon Ilchov - Ilka Zhelyazkova from "Duga" Sofia (here our couple Evgeni Popov - Lyubka Petakova remained fifth) Class 15 "B": Simeon Ilchov - Ilka Zhelyazkova from "Duga" Sofia (here the representatives of "Impulse" Pavel Gergev - Victoria Cholakova ranked sixth) In Class 18 "V" our team Yana triumphed Mil In the highest class "A" first became Tihomir Gavrilov and Pavlina Istatieva, who also took the Cup "Velingrad 2001" personally from the mayor of the municipality Dr. Tsvetan Dafov. Each of the winners received a cup and a medal, and the awards were handed out by the head of the Sports and Tourism Department at the municipality Todor Bozev, the chairman of the Bulgarian Sports Dance Federation Orlin Avramov, the main sponsor of the tournament Georgi Tselev and the mayor Dr. Dafov. Special award for contribution to sport and beauty in Velingrad was also given to the main culprit for this tournament - the coach of OKST "Impulse" Petar Milchev, awarded to him by the artist Boris Kostov.
