At its last session of 2005. on December 30, the Municipal Council adopted an increase in the revenue part of the budget by BGN 415,908 from property taxes and non-tax revenues. Chief Accountant Hristo Savov described 2005 as one of the worst years because the emergency costs due to the floods had a strong impact on the municipal budget. However, there will be a small budget surplus for 2006. About 730 thousand levs remain unsent, for which money is waiting from the Commission of Disasters and Accidents.
The councillors supported the proposal that the employees of the Municipal Administration and its units should receive one minimum wage for workwear.
The New Year's gift to the municipality is a brand new "Peugeot 407", which will receive under contract with "Raiffeisenbank". Since 2006. The bank takes over the service of the municipality.
BGN 2 million are needed for expropriation procedures under the Spatial Planning Act. The amount was voted on, though it is not yet known where the money will come from.
A proposal to sell the workers' dormitory to the municipal hospital, whose fate has been unclear for years, was postponed for January. The postponement is due to a dispute over whether the municipality should sell under the Municipal Property Act or declare the building for privatization. The difference in the two procedures is that under the first one there is no way VAT to remain in the municipality, and the money will sink into the overall budget gap.
A program for Roma integration in schools was adopted. Her urgent vote was necessary because the municipality has the opportunity to apply for money under the PHARE program if there are schools and kindergartens where integration is being worked on. The condition is that there should be no 100% Roma groups and classes in the educational institutions.
On December 28, the municipality received another new 27-seat school bus from the Ministry of Education. He will benefit from the school in St. Petka. The municipal council decided to transfer the Hyundai bus to the school in Birkovo.
Mayor Stoyan Dulev was appointed as a representative of the municipality in the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria.
