In the City Council, 10 people are fighting for one seat

On 26 October, Velingradians will vote for the 15th mayor of the municipality in a row. 15 is also the number of contenders for the mayoral chair, which for the first time proved to be the goal and ambition of so many people. The comparison is indicative: among 15 candidate mayors will choose the residents of the far larger cities of Sofia and Plovdiv.
The municipal election commission in Velingrad had a job until the last deadline - 19 hours on September 25. The committee refused registration to one of the candidates and registered 9 party candidates plus 6 initiative committees for independent mayoral candidates. To all of them c. "Tempo" asked 5 identical questions - the answers read on the inner pages.
Serious will be the battle in the rest of the settlements of the municipality. In the town of Sarnitsa there are 6 contenders, as well as in Draginovo and St. Petka. Five will fight in Grashevo, 4 in Krastava and Honey meadows, out of three candidates will choose in Pashovo, Birkovo and Rohlevo, only in Ablanitsa contender are two.
A total of 289 party representatives and independent candidates will be vying for a seat on the 29-member Municipal Council. By rough estimates, 10 people will be vying for one spot on the council. Independent candidates for councillors are 16, the longest lists are offered by BSP and DPS, and there are party lists with one single candidate each. Only 6 of the municipal councillors from the previous local parliament will not fight for a seat in the future one.
The Municipal Electoral Commission will draw the lots for the ballot numbers on September 30 at 10 o'clock in the big hall of the municipality.
