On July 2, a tradition created in recent years with raising the flags and with the national anthem, performed by the Representative Youth Brass Orchestra with conductor Dimitar Mechev and a cheerleading squad led by Bilyana Maslarova, was given the beginning of the Velingrad Festivals of Culture' 2004. The holidays opened Deputy Mayor Recep Hodzhov. The guests from Lovech, Troyan, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Panagyurishte and Sindos - Greece also presented themselves in the traditional parade of brass orchestras and cheerleading ensembles in front of the town. In the wonderful July evening solo concerts were performed by the hosts from Velingrad. The program included Vladimir Rashkov, who with his performance of "Santa Lucia" deserved the applause of the audience. Guests from Troyan and Sindos-R. Greece also delighted the audience in Nikolaj Ghiaurov Square with their performances.
The day of Velingrad was celebrated on July 3, Saturday. Unlike previous years, this time the only official guest was ODS MP Panayot Lyakov. With greetings to the citizens of Velingrad on the occasion of the holiday was addressed by Deputy Mayor Recep Hodzhov. Alongside him on the stand were interim mayor Stoyan Dulev and ousted Fidel Beev.
In the solemn concert took part the Representative Choir at the Community Center "Otets Paisiy", ensembles from the community centers in Draginovo and Chepino, dance couples from "Impulse". For the first time in the 35-year history of the Velingrad Feasts of Culture at the solemn concert for the celebration of the city sang folk-singer. The general sponsors of the Feasts brothers Beevi chose Raina, which entertains the numerous audience in Nikolay Gyaurov Square (a free transport from the mayoralties to the municipal center was organized especially for the concert).
This year's holiday of Velingrad will also be remembered by the lack of security in the central city area, which led to a crowd of cars. The final was given with fireworks, after which the cocktail for the municipal councilors began at the Central restaurant. It turned out that the presence was chambery, and some of the councillors shared their insult that they were not invited to the celebration. The cocktail was attended by the temporary mayor St. Dulev and his deputy R. Hodzhov together with Fidel Beev, who attended all events from the Festivals of Culture during the past week.
