Minimal decrease in crimes in the region and almost double their detection rate - such are the data for the period January - June 2004. Their analysis was officially announced to officers of the police station of the Ministry of Interior - Velingrad last week.
In the first 6 months of the year, there was only one attempted murder and 2 thefts of cars on the territory served by the Velingrad police department. The total number of thefts was 213 versus 235 for the same period in 2003. The crime rate for the reported period increased from 37% in 2003 to nearly 52% in 2004. The largest number of criminal acts falls on home thefts, which are carried out more and more professionally and on the crimes under the Forestry Act, announced Major Daskalov. Out of a total of 33 home burglaries, 14 were uncovered. 62 are crimes of an economic nature. By this indicator the municipality of Rakitovo is leading in violations in the forest phonode. During the 6-month period, the composition of the Police Department was understated. Now in connection with the summer season, there will be more security at the entrance-exit artery of the city, as well as patrolling police officers in the central part.
