The political market is once again open - as always on the eve of parliamentary elections. Party headquarters lined up and rearranged names of candidates for deputies, led by one goal - winning more seats in the next National Assembly. Our 13 Pazardjik constituency has 9 seats for MPs. On June 25, the voter (for the first time with an integral ballot) will indicate his political preferences and the vote will determine how these 9 mandates will be allocated. From now it is clear that there will be surprises, as there have been in all parliamentary elections in the district so far.
How did the residents of the municipality of Velingrad vote in the last 10 years and how were the mandates of the political forces in the Pazardzhik constituency distributed? Let's go back and recall:
1994: BSP wins 5:4 against UDF
December 1994 Parliamentary Elections. brought to Velingrad a convincing victory of BSP. Socialists are on the rise, BSP is firmly the first political force in the municipality, a few months after the vote there is also a member of parliament from Velingrad - Zavarin Marov. At district level, BSP won 5 mandates, UDF took 4, and DPS with leader of the list Velingradtschanina Dr. Yulian Kalachev failed to implement a mandate from the Pazardzhik constituency.
1997: UDF grabs 6 mandates
On the political scene in Velingrad (as well as throughout the country) large and significant shifts took place. The BSP not only lost the first place, but with an electoral result of 3479 votes it became the third political force in our municipality after the UDF and the MRF. The big winner in these elections in Velingrad is the ODS coalition with 10,122 votes, second place is the ONS coalition with the participation of DPS with 4668 votes. For the first and only time, the 4 percent barrier also crossed the Euro-Left with 897 votes. The nine mandates are distributed as follows: 6 for the UDF (5 for the UDF and 1 for the People's Union), 2 for the BSP and 1 for the YNS in the person of Arlin Antonov, who so far is the only one who has entered parliament with the votes of the MRF from Pazardzhik region.
2001: the great breakthrough of NDSV
Once again, the political layers are shifting - the emergence of NDSV produces a real tremor and gains the trust of the majority of voters. Velingrad shows a "yellow card" of the previous winners UDF and BSP - with 2810 votes UDF collapses in fourth place in political influence in the municipality, with 2883 votes BSP remains in third place. DPS retains its perimeter - 4445 votes, and NDSV recorded a serious victory with 8250 votes in Velingrad and with 3074 votes in Rakitovo municipality.
Unexpectedly for most analysts, NDSV won 5 out of 9 mandates in the Pazardzhik constituency. Two terms each took BSP and ODF. The DPS's hopes of winning a mandate from the district again fell through. 2005: battle with many players and unknowns Different political centralities approached the announcement of the lists with the names of the candidate-deputies differently.
BSP arranged the list and early announced not only the traditional leader Georgi Pirinski, but also the ranking of the other candidates. The left bet on the successful mayors of Peshtera and Panagyurishte Georgi Petarneychev and Marko Mechev. The candidate from Velingrad is Assoc. Ivan Paligorov, for whom 11th place in the list, but in a possible victory and the prospect of finding a proper realization in the executive. Second launched their campaign by coalition BNS, announcing that the list in Pazardzhik will lead the leader of the SDS Nikolay Bozhilov. The second place was allocated to the BZNS-People's Union, for which after a serious battle at the regional level the party's Board of Governors gave its trust to the regional chairwoman Ekaterina Kaferinova, followed by the leader of IMRO in Pazardzhik Blago Petrov. Without competition, Dr. Ivan Kolchakov was the leader of the ODS list. The surprise was that the Blues gave the second place to the coalition partner from the Roma formation Drom Iliya Iliev. The chairman of UDF - Velingrad Dr. Tsvetan Dafov will probably be after the fifth place on the list.
The leader of the NDSV list is the deputy chairman of the party Daniel Valchev. The application definitely produced a surprise in the circles of the "yellows". Surprises continued in the arrangement of the list: second is the current MP Valentin Miltanov, third Deputy Minister of Regional Development Petya Gegova, followed by the MP Penka Peneva and the regional governor Ivan Dimitrov. The previous leader Milena Milotinova is absent from the list, and her colleague Lutskan Dalakchiev will fight in Blagoevgrad. By the deadline for registration May 25, more surprises are possible.
Surprises are also waiting in the DPS, where leader Ahmed Dogan will keep his custom of keeping silent until the last. The DPS will officially announce its lists on May 26, but information has leaked from the party's headquarters that the leader in our district will be Fidel Beev. After him remained the district leader Ahmed Hadzhiyski and the deputy governor Yumer Hamza, and subsequently it was rumored that the second will be former secretary of the UDF Hristo Biserov. Local DPS-mediums believe that the last word of Dogan should be waited. A petition with more than 3000 names from the Municipality of Velingrad is also presented to his attention, which insists that the leader of the DPS list should be prof. Adrien Palov. The list of Democrats for Strong Bulgaria will lead the deputy chairman of the party Ekaterina Mihailova. The leader of DSB in Velingrad Assen Popov is in fourth place, and the incumbent MP Panayot Lyakov, despite the much work he did in 39 National Assembly, was appointed by his fellow party members in seventh place and will give up the candidate-deputy battle.
This week all the names in the lists will become known and the campaign will be officially launched. The battle for the 9 terms will last one month, voters will decide on June 25.
