In a few months Velingrad will have the first regional encyclopedia in Bulgaria (so far only Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil region can boast similar ones). In March next year, the first issues of the encyclopedia will be published, which is the product of tireless professional work of a collective of 40 people for more than 3 years.

The idea for the creation of this first-ever encyclopedic edition was by Mr. Mikhail Alexiev, Chairman of the Civic Values Association. Much of the funds for publishing the book come from the European Union through the Civil Society Development Foundation, which funds the "Nature" part of the encyclopedia. In addition, the publication will contain a large overview article "Chepino" and sections "Society" - with very rich photo and illustrative material and "Ecology" - an ecological atlas and a collection of maps. Most of the materials have been unpublished so far and are the merit of local researchers. The encyclopedia will have a circulation of 1000 pieces and a volume of about 400 pages in A 4 format. Initial subscription units will be released at preferential prices. The first 150-200 units will be released in March next year at the latest, Mr. Mikhail Alexiev announced. On December 21 at 16.30 in the Business Center the Management Board of the Association "Civil Values" and the editorial board invite all interested in the presentation of the encyclopedic guide "Chepino". This presentation will mark the beginning of a wide public discussion of the texts from the publication. 5 pilot units will be released, which will be available at the local community center. Anyone who wishes can get acquainted with the encyclopedic guide, give an opinion, give an idea or supplement the information. For 2 months, its pages for discussion on the encyclopedia also provided the newspaper "Tempo". After the release of the encyclopedic guide "Chepino" the author's team will propose as a kind of continuation the biographical guide "Who's who in Chepino history". It will include articles on celebrities from the Chepinska trough, local history of parties and organizations, history of banking, etc. Tempo
